Wooden Loot is coming, and the Rules are here!

You did it again! Thanks to all your wonderful support, both backing and sharing, we hit our first stretch goal, Wooden Loot Tokens! The next stretch goal is in sight too, beautiful Wooden Character Tokens!

Tokens and Add-Ons

Both types of tokens will be crafted by Basically Wooden (the folks who made the Collector’s Edition Box). We are still waiting on prototype shots, but we are confident they will look great.

The Wooden Tokens, The King of Caverns T-Shirt, and the Stickers will be available as Add-Ons. As such, we want to take a second and explain how Add-Ons will work for our campaign.

We are working with BackerKit to manage our fulfillment, and they make Add-Ons really easy. After the campaign, you will receive a survey which will gather your shipping info and a few other items. 

Once there you will be able to simply browse a shopping cart of all the Add-Ons. Adding them will automatically adjust your pledge, and voila, new cool shirt, or awesome tokens for you!

We will be updating our story in the next few days to include an Add-On section that will more clearly delineate what you get specifically, and pricing.

The Rules and Honorary Editors

Some of you may have noticed that we posted a Google Doc of the Lairs Rules.

Obviously this is not a final format, rather it is a living document one you are invited to comment on and give us feedback on. Be assured the final rulebook will receive much more design and layout attention.

First and foremost we are posting these so you can learn a bit more about how the game works in before backing. We are confident you are going to enjoy the game, and so we are excited to share it with you.

Also we want your opinions on how the rules read, and work. Writing rules is one thing, but creating a legitimately useful rulebook is a group activity and requires a lot of feedback. Your insights offer us a great opportunity to polish and perfect the language, and format of the rules.

Lastly, these will serve as a ruleset for the Preview Print and Play, coming out later this week! Which we are releasing for the same reasons.

Every few days we will go through the comments and update the document. Feel free to post questions as comments too. We will use these to make a project FAQ, and the FAQ in the rulebook as well.  

Also, we get that we are asking for your help, and want to make sure if you want you are credited. Backers who offer suggestions/edits will be included as honorary game editors in the last page of the rule book, provided they message us here on KS or email us at [email protected] to give us formal permission to use their name!

FUNDED!

You did it! You pushed us past our funding goal in less than a week! Thank you so much for all of your support. We have been working on this game for over a year and are so excited to get it in your hands!

Our first stretch goal is only $2000 away! At $12,000, we'll offer wooden loot tokens add-ons to replace your cardboard punch outs. These are made by Basically Wooden, the folks who produce the Ultimate Collector’s Box and the Custom Box Dividers. Check the bottom of the email to get a look at their handiwork.

Kickstarter added us to their "Projects We Love" section! It is a huge honor to have Lairs recognized by the staff at Kickstarter. Again, this is something we could have never done without the support of our backers. Thank you again to everyone who backed us in the first week! Let's keep pushing, and unlock all of those remaining stretch goals! 

ULTIMATE COLLECTOR'S EDITION 

We just got prototype pics of the Ultimate Collector's Edition of Lairs from the craftspeople at Basically Wooden and we're really excited to share them with you.  

If you were on the fence about backing at the Ultimate Collector's Edition level, I hope these pictures change your mind! 

NEXT UP

We are working on some gameplay vids, a preview print and play edition that features a couple of the Legacies, a few new reward levels and stretch goals.  

Lastly we are looking into alternate shipping options for international orders. We appreciate the advice on that issue that several bakers have sent to us. While we can't make any promises on a price change, we can promise that we will leave no stone unturned!

Hello Kickstarters!

First and foremost, a hearty thank you to all of you that have supported us far. Just over 24 hours and we're over half way to our goal. We love that so many people want to bring Lairs to life. We wanted to talk about a couple things that are coming up.

Print & Play

What is a game unless you know how to play it? We have decided to release a special Kickstarter Preview Print & Play of Lairs. This version will include all that glorious artwork, just a little less of it. It will play all phases of the entire game, but only include a small handful of the Encounters and Legacies that we have planned. Keep your eyes peeled for this release coming soon.

Lairs at Origins Game Fair

To those that are in Columbus, OH for Origins, we have a copy of the game for demos! So, if you want to see the game in action, we are with Naturalist Games at Booth #843. Also, feel free just to stop by and say hello. We'd love to meet people that help make this a reality.
